Trying to find information on my grandmother, Helen Mae Carey, born in 1910-1914 in MN - possibly in the Drummond Hall neighborhood of Minneapolis. Family story was that her father was Blackfoot & was hung for marrying a white woman. But as I've been doing family history, that story is not adding up and more things are pointing to a possible adoption. Adoption would have happened somewhere between 1914 and 1925, but probably before 1920, and she went to live with a family in northern MI. Grandma struggled all her life with substance abuse & issues, and the family native american heritage was a big secret swept under the rug. Trying to reclaim our heritage for my daughter. Thank you for starting this group!

Nice Story, I hope you continue to heal and heal others. I heard about your support of the Brown family. I am with you. I've helped the only way I know how. Please continue work on keeping the Brown family together.
